The little babe is growing well. She doesn't move a whole ton, but is there. I'm due in about 2 weeks and cannot wait as I've become quite fat and miserable. I broke my little toe about a month ago and physically I've just gone downhill from there, super swollen, arms and legs go numb, carpal tunnel, hands go to sleep driving, talking on phone and on computer and while sleeping in bed so have to sleep sitting up on the couch.
We are still thinking of naming her Brynn. We love it! But about a month ago I had a dream that I went on facebook and a friend had just had a baby and named her Bryn, I was so sad thinking we couldn't use it too but woke up and felt better. Unfortunately the dream came true about two weeks ago. I got on facebook and a family in the ward announced the birth of their baby and named her Brynlee! I was devastated and just cried and cried and cried. Then I got over the fact that there would be another girl with similar name in the ward and we have just decided to do it. I still so wish ours would be the only Brynn, but oh well. We love the name so much and feel it fits our family. I just hope it doesn't cause any offended feelings. But doesn't Colin, Brannon, Evrett, Cody, Brynn just look perfect?? :)
Work has been going really well for Ben. Hours have normalized a little, he is working so hard to keep a good balance between work and home. His pay is coming in so there has been a little breathing room there, at least for now. He will need to "buy in" to the practice in the next few months which is confusing but at least he loves it. I'm glad he does but I constantly worry that we will look back on our lives and wonder what we did....Ben worked. I'm hoping as our family gets a little older and it is easier to go do fun things we will make more family memories because right now it's basically work and school. Not many friends or hobbies or anything extra. Work takes over it all :(
Colin is doing well. He does good in school and works hard in the classroom and to make friends. He plays kickball or softball at recess everyday and I'm proud of him for it. When he first started he was nervous and self conscious because he wasn't very good...couldn't kick far and couldn't catch well. But since he has stuck with it, he has really improved and feels good about it! He is such a great big brother to the little guys. Cody absolutely loves him. He turned 11 so is in his last year of primary! He started 11 year old scouts and likes it. He is just a good, sweet kid. he would love to find something he can be a STAR at, but we are still looking. He holds his own in everything he does but I can tell he really wishes he would stand out as the best. It's something I never wanted as a kid so I struggle knowing how to help him feel good about who he is and what he does while at the same time encouraging and supporting him.
Brannon is good too. A little more oblivious to the social world at school then Colin and makes friends with any and everybody. He has really grown as a student this year, become much more aware of doing well and being responsible. He too is great with the little kids, and both Evrett and Cody love playing with him. He likes to play sports but still likes toys and games. He hops around from friend to friend, from recess activity to recess activity and from book to book...usually having at least 3 books half read at a given time and eventually finishes them as he starts them. He really loves non fiction, learning about our world, space, animals, facts, etc. Both big boys have been on Honor Roll each trimester.
Evrett, oh Evrett. How we love you and how I worry you are so totally the middle forgotten child sometimes. So easy going and happy to just play. He LOVES school, so so much. And loves doing his homework, learning to read, practicing math skills. He loves when he learns something new...doesn't love it as he is fumbling to learn, but once he has it he is so so proud. He played soccer in the fall and had fun but it was a little too fast paced for him. He just started t-ball which he really likes and seems to be a better fit. He works hard at it! The kinda skipped the tee and have been doing coach pitch, which he had never done, so had some learning to do but he just keeps on trying and doesn't get discouraged and is so proud when he does hit the ball! He makes friends with everyone and is still a silly goofy kid. We are working on his social manners and anxiety. Often when someone he isn't 100% comfortable with talks to him he won't respond and looks away, but with some gentle coaching and reminding he will make eye contact and answer. He loves to draw and really wants to take piano lessons. He is really good with Cody but also knows how to tease and get him into trouble!
Cody Bear/Cody Beast. We have seen a slow decrease in the appearance of the Cody Beast lately as he has been a pretty happy kid. He has started to really enjoy playing, his favorites are with Lego guys and balls/bats. He knows how to dribble a basketball and hits baseballs off the tee and dropkicks footballs. Its pretty funny and impressive. He talks a lot is super bosy telling us all what to do. He has started being mean to other kids his age, hitting and pushing, to test the limits I think and that has been frustrating as we go to playgrounds, etc. but is usually nice :) He LOVES his brothers so much. Sometimes he won't go to bed until one of them come to sing/rock him. He loves to have fun, tickle, laugh, play tricks-most recently he likes to steal people's spots on the couch. If someone gets up he quickly moves to their spot and smiles mischievously at them when they return and says "steel stop". He thinks other peoples' belly buttons are "ewww disgusting!!!!!". he love elmo and sesame street, can sing the elmo theme song about goldfish and crayons, and loves Toy Story (Woody and Buzz). He is kind of a picky eater, still doesn't like typical kids food-lunch mean, nuggets, hotdogs, and prefers grown up food-baked potatoes, casseroles, etc. He always tells me "Thanks mom, YUMMY" when he likes the dinner. He is just super cute and a super handful sometimes, like when trying to shop, but we just love him to death.
I find myself filled with so much gratitude and love for these kids that are mine.
