St. Louis Trip

Our friends the Griffitts were in St. Louis visiting family and asked us to drive down for a day to see them. Ben finagled his way out of work for 2 days (he was on anesthesia)  so we could stay the night. The first day we drove the 5 hours to get there, stopping at the first corn dog shop for lunch, and then to downtown St. Louis to walk around. We were shocked to find parking for $4 A DAY! It is $20 an hour in chicago! We saw the arch, and the kids went up with Ben. Then we walked around the museum and found a fun fountain to play in since it was so hot! Then we walked to The Old Spaghetti factory for dinner which was so fun. We swam at the hotel, and woke up the next morning to go see some the Cahokia Indian mounds...the oldest remnants of the biggest ancient Indian civilization north of Mexico and then headed to the FREE Zoo to see our friends! Trevor's sister and her kids were there as well as Angie Clayton (who lives 2 hours from st. lous) and her boys. It was so good to see them! I don't think we will ever make friends like them again. I was a little disappointed that Angie's kids didn't talk to my boys at all. Colin was so so so excited to see Taft and Taft barely even said hello before following Emma around everywhere. Colin went off and sat by himself in tears that Taft didn't want to be his friend. My heart just broke but we had a good talk and he ended up having a lot of fun with the Griffitts.  We went to a yummy BBQ place for dinner and then back to Heather's house to play and get ice cream and then head home. It was a very quick trip with lots of driving but SO worth it!
